This and That

Boy has time flown.  2020 so far has proven to be an unusual year.  I was doing really good with my aqua exercises and then all at once everything was closed due to Corona Virus.  That was mid March.  Mow in the middle of June things are reopening but things are different than before.  Everyone is urged to wear a cloth mask whenever they go anywhere.  So here is one of the masks that I made.  Actually my favorite.  And the only one I have bought so far.  It because it was an elephant.

Annabelle has been being a pest.  She likes to lay on my mouse pad with her head on my arm or hand.  It is hard to use my mouse pen when she does this but she is so lovable that it is hard to scold her for it.

Since I have not been able to do my aqua exercises I have been doing a little more walking.  Depending on the weather it is anywhere from 1/4th mile if I just walk to mailbox area to over a mile around the trailer park I live in.    Now the zoo is open I can also go there to walk and get in 3/4th to about 1 1/2 miles depending on if I walk the whole area or just half.  I love being able to see our babies, giraffes, tigers, patas monkeys in person rather then just on the youTube channel TopzooKTWU .  This page gives link to the 6 web cams that show our babies.

Well it is getting late so I need to get ready for bed.  I will try to post more often.

Updates.

It has been several years since I posted here and I didn't even think about it until I received a swap from Swap-bot that said she had visited here.  So here goes nothing.  LOL.

We had to let SuzyQ go in July 2015.  She developed kidney failure at the age of 15.  So she is in heaven with her Daddy Don who she missed very much.      This picture is about a  year before she passed.

This is Annabelle.  She originally belonged to my granddaughter who got her as a kitten in the spring of 2010.  She was bought to me when she could no longer be kept by her because of their living situation.  She is a beautiful grey and white odd eyed kitty.

Saturday Photo Hunt - Clean

Okay.  Yesterdays Photo Hunt theme was clean.    On May 24, my son and I were traveling to Canyon, TX for Granddaughters HS Graduation.  Part way there he decided to stop and take a break by pulling into this small town car wash and while I stretched my legs he washed the car.  So this is my post for clean.  I will try to catch up on some of the themes that I have missed.

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentine Everyone.  This is my first Valentines Day  since Don passed in November, 2011.  The last few years he had been getting me roses for Valentines.  Usually sending our daughter to pick them up.  She is working today but over her lunch break she went and got these beautiful roses in his memory.  She said the one was called tie-dyed,  it is really beautiful.  I love them both.

Now on to other things.  I have a little cross stitch happy dance.
Just a little NeedleMagic, Inc kit that I got at Hobby Lobby last month.  Daughter likes frogs so I made it for her.    Now to go back to the OakHaven Designs 2012 SAL that I am stitching.  January was this little kitty.
I finished it as a small notecard.  February is a cute little puppy.   Next was this plasticcanvas piece that I ran across when I was sorthing things to set up my craft closet.
Then last I was working on crochet 6inch granny squares for the Online Angels Charity.  I don't have a picture of them yet.

Better get this posted and then on to other things that need done.
Have a great day!

Next 3 are in my yard just different times.

 2007 Ice Storm.
 August 2010 Summer

Glad this is not this year.  Although we could use the moisture.

Saturday PhotoHunt a day late.

Here is my bling.  My husband bought this ring for me for Christmas 2004.  I had never had a diamond and the rubies are our birthstones.  I love this ring and will wear it for the rest of my life.  It reminds me of all the good times that we had and how much he loved me.    RIP Don I love you.

Free Plasticcanvas Bookmark

Bookmark  made using the Mosiac Stitch.
Size is 10 threads by 36 threads (9 holes x 35 holes)  using  7 count clear plastic canvas.
I used 2 different colors to be able to show how to do this stitch.  Can be done in 1 color also just follow the pattern as shown for the different colors.

To begin come up at A and down at B, up at C, down at D,  up at E, down at F.  This makes the square that comprises the Mosiac Stitch.  To continue the pattern count over 5 holes starting at E then come up at G and down at H.  Continue following your pattern till you have completed the first color.
For 2nd color begin at 1 and come up then down at 2, up at 3, down at 4 and continue as numbered on picture.

Saturday PhotoHunt

The theme this week is gather.  So here is my picture.  Family gathering around truck at son's house in preparation for the fireworks on July 4, 2011.  Such a great evening.

Happy New year everyone.  I will be spending at least part of it over at my sons house.  They don't want Mama (me) to be alone this evening.  Depending on how things go I don't have to come home as our motorhome is over there and it has 3 extra beds for anyone who doesn't want to drive home.

Grand Ole Opry Member Mel McDaniel Dies

Grand Ole Opry Member Mel McDaniel Dies He will be missed. I first met him when I was 15 and he was 20. I loved his singing then the first song I remember hearing him sing was at an audition for a band he wanted to perform with. In the mid 80s we got to see him perform at a club here in Topeka, KS and we enjoyed it very much. I always wanted to see him again but never got to. I will always remember him and love hearing his songs.

Happy New Year

The last couple of hours of 2010 are here and it has been a very busy year.  The last couple of weeks over Christmas was the best.  Our 17 year old granddaughter came to visit.  We had not seen her in several years and her Dad had only seen here for short periods of time so we were all very happy to see her for the 10 days she was here.
Taken on Dec 28 at the Kansas City airport while we were waiting on her flight out.
Erika we love you and you made your Grandpas Christmas very special by coming back.

Update

I don't know where all the time went.  Last post I had just watched the super bowl on TV.  Now it is middle of April.  So I guess I will try to let you all know what has been going on.  February just flew by.  We took a 2 day trip to Boonville Mo ( about 200 miles east in the next state.)  Didn't do much visited friends.  Went and took a few pictures around the area and Friday evening we went to the Isle of Capri (a riverboat casino) and had their seafood buffet for supper and checked the casino out.  No luck just a relaxing evening.  Drove home that Sunday into a snow storm.  Highway was not bad but the city streets were once we got off the highway.

Then later that week on Thursday the 25th of Feb Don woke up not feeling good and running a fever.  So we called the Dr and they said they could not get him in (not the regular nurse for our Dr) so instead of the minor med clinic we to him strait to the ER.  Good thing we did as he had sever asparation pneumonia.  He ended up in critical care for 3 days on a breathing machine.  Then a week in the medical unit doing testing to find out why the pneumonia.  Turns out he was not swallowing properly and was asparating food into his lungs.  They put a tube into his intestine and he is now getting tube feeding at night.  Once they got that worked out and he started feeling better they transferred him to the rehab unit at St Francis medical center.  He spent 10 days there getting started on his rehab then was released to come home on March 17.  Since then he has been doing rehab every day.  Physical therapy on Monday, Wed and Friday.  He finished that part this past Friday.  Starting when he was in the rehab unit they started a therapy to see if he could get back to swallowing properly.  They are doing a technic called vital stem.  They hook up electrodes to his throat a stimulate the muscles to strengthen them and get the swallow to working the way it is supposed to.  He is doing this 45 minutes a day 5 days a week.  It is working but very slowly.  He is keeping at it because he wants to eat again and get rid of the feeding tube.

So that is what went on the last few months.  I am now just starting to get back to some stitching.  I had my other carpel tunnel surgery in December and since it was my right hand it seemed to take longer to get back into the swing of things.

I will try to post more often.  And have a great day everyone.

Super Bowl Sunday

Well the Super Bowl is over and the right team won.  I think that it is great that New Orleans won.  they played a good game.

It doesn't seem like we are already into the 2nd month of the year.  We have had more snow this year than we have had in the last 20.  Although we were lucky last weekend that the storm that hit through the south Oklahoma, Arkansas, Georgia and so on missed us completely.    We had snow Friday but it was a wet snow and the roads did not get bad.  Today it has rained lightly all day.  Supposed to turn into snow so we will just wait and see what is out there when we wake up.

I have other things to do now so will come back and post more later.  Have a great day!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas  Hope you all had a great Christmas.  Pictures are of the tree we put up this year.  Did not use all of the tree as I left out the center section to make it fit where I had to put it.  I used all the new ornaments I received from Swap-bot exchanges plus some of my favorites from years past.  Plus I put a few others that I like around.  The little tree has miniature ornaments that stay on all year.  I just put it in a box for storage and pull it out when ready.  I like this glass manger set this is about the 3rd year I have used it since I found it at a yard sale.

We had a very quiet Christmas day as we had the kids over yesterday for Christmas Eve.  We started that many years ago doing ours on Christmas Eve and they could do in-laws on Christmas Day.  Although this year Daughter has no where to go so she went over to her brothers today.

We have a white Christmas this year as it started with sleet and ice yesterday then turned into blowing snow.  It is like 2 inches and you can see grass through it in places and other places drifts from 3 to 6 feet or more.  Very hard for them to get accurate measurements.   Hubby and I are going nowhere as son took our vehicle home last night.  His little car is not good on ice and we have a 4wheel drive Blazer so he took ours and left his sit in our drive way.  We trust his driving anyway as he drives a semi for a living and before that drove a wrecker for over 10 years.

This is the view I had out my window this afternoon.  The little white car slid off the road and ended up sideways in the ditch.  The truck came around and pulled the car backwards out of the ditch to where it could drive the rest of the way through the empty lot and get back to the road thru the trailer park.  Most of the cars we saw today were larger or trucks and all going very slow.  I sent this last picture to my Brother in California and he wrote back that they were in t-shirts and shorts today and that he did not miss this kind of weather at all.
I better close this for now.  Have a great day everyone.

Merry Christmas - NOT FOR THIS COMPANIES EMPLOYEES - Arrow Trucking, Tulsa, Oklahoma

My son almost took a job with this company a couple of years ago.  How lucky for him that he did not.  This is a sad situation.  Many are stranded far from home and no way to get there.  Send this to all your friends.  Maybe someone will be able to help even one of these stranded truckers.  I read one page of coments on this story and almost cried.
