I won a PIF so my turn to post.

Last week I entered a PIF posted by Debra for notions and/or thread instead of a stitched item. So now it is my turn to post a PIF.

Here are the rules:

1. Send no less than 5 items per person.

2. Items can be DMC, other threads, stitching needles, straight pins, buttons, scissors, ribbons, ect, just use your imagination. You can send a combination of items such as 3 threads, 1 pack of straight pins and 1 pack of stitching needles or just 5 threads.

3. All I ask is that items be in new condition and not used.

If you are interested, leave a comment on this post until January 25 and I will draw 2 names that evening then post the winning names on my January 26th blog. Please be sure to leave your email address or a link to your blog so I can get in touch with you if you are a winner!

If you win, you must be willing to post this PIF on your blog and do the same for at least 2 people.

So let the fun begin. Have a great day! Barbara

First finish 2009 and bookmark exchange received.

Finally my first finish for 2009. It was a WIP that I have been working on off and on for the last year. It was a small counted cross stitch kit from Dimensions that I have had for awhile. The copywrite notice said 2000. It is called Teddy Bear Greetings by Vicky Howard. This was done on 14ct plastic canvas and the wire greetings sign came in the kit.

Next picture is a bookmark that I received from the January bookmark exchange in the yahoo group bbinteractive (Brooke's Books Interactive). I am still hunting for a pattern for her bookmark.

I have also received some postcards from some Swap-bot postcard swaps. Have not scanned them yet but when I do they will be posted on my webshots album and maybe here.

Got to go as the ferrets want out to play and we want to watch the playoff games today.

Continuation of Swaps

My first Swap-bot swap was a private one set up by Doreen for members of Joan's Yahoo group. It was for a biscornu using a pattern that Joan had made for a group challenge.

I received from Doreen in Canada. This biscornu and a selection of buttons.

Here is the one I sent to Pirjo in Finland.

I have enjoyed doing this swap and will be joining more swaps of this type after the new year.

The other swap I joined was a postcard swap and I received 4 really nice postcards, from Colorado, North Carolina, Michigan and Australia. And I sent to North Carolina (different person that I received from), Alabama, Kentucky and The Netherlands. I enjoyed this and have already joined another postcard swap. I will scan these later and post the pictures.

Got to go as have to let the ferrets out to play for a while.
Have a great day.

Swaps

Been busy but I guess I had better post some pictures of some swaps and things that I have seent and received in the last month or so. I joined a site called Swap-Bot because one of the yahoo groups I am in is going to do her swaps thru this site. I have completed 2 swaps and joined 2 more. Also I have joined in on the group forum (Sapphirestitching - Swap-bot group) a couple of Winner take all postings. And I won the drawing for the WTA- Christmas Floss. So here are some pictures of what I received.

From Angel a skein of NeedleNecessities overdyed #151. My first overdyed floss. And you can see the pretty decoration of the note card she had with the floss.
Then next from Doreen in Canada 3 Christmas colors of DMC and an assortment of Christmas colored buttons.
Then from Sadie in Scotland these pretty DMC threads Antique Effects (silver), Precious metal Effects (gold) and another shade of green.
Next from Joan a skein of Six Strand Sweets Hand-dyed color spice drop. a skein of Weeks Dye Works called Santa Claus from the Holiday Collection, and 3 skeins of DMC varigated colors.
Last from Roz a skein of Anchor (another shade of green), skein of Kreinik Japan thread #7 (gold), roll of Kreinik Very Fine #4 braid - green, and a roll of Kreinik blending filament - red. And a really cute Christmas note card.
Better post this as it is getting rather long. Next post will be about the swaps that I have done in Swap-Bot

I was tagged.

Boy am I behind. I got tagged almost a month ago to tell you 6 things about me and then tag 6 more to do the same. Anyway I have been thinking about what to post.

First the rules.

1. Link to the person who tagged you.2. Post the rules on your blog.3. Write six random things about yourself.4. Tag six people at the end of your post.5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.6. Let the tagger know your entry is up

Joan was so nice to tag me. (You have to scroll down as there are some newer posts above the one where she tagged me.)

Now 6 Random the things about me:

1. I have been retired for 3 years now and seem to be as busy as when I was working. Do have more time for stitching and playing on the computer.

2. I have done many crafts over the years. Crochet, embroidery, fabric painting, sewing, plastic canvas, and cross stitch. The only thing I have had trouble trying to learn is knitting. Although I am trying.

3. Been married for 42 years. Hope to make 50 but don't know if Hubbies health will hold up that much longer.

4. Have 2 kids. Daughter is 40, divorced, with 3 sons - 18 - 19 - 21. She works for a clipping company here so she gets to read newspapers for a living. Son is 37, married with a 16 year old step daughter, and a 15 year old daughter who is in Texas with her mom. He drives for a large trucking company out of Des Moines although he lives here in Topeka.

5. I am very shy until I get to know someone. That is why in the groups I mostly lurk. I am trying to get over this and maybe someday I will. You never know.

6. Love to read. I can remember getting in trouble in grade school because I would get engrossed in a book and not want to do anything else. If I really like a book and will read it ove and over.

As for tagging anyone I have been thinking about that and most of the blogs that I read have already been tagged. So I am going to take an idea from some of them and just say that if you have not been tagged to consider yourself tagged. If you do post this let me know and I will come check it out.

Well thats all for now. Might be back later as I have some pictures to post from exchanges and some things I been working on.

Ornament finish

This was done mostly in Dr's offices and the hospital waiting on hubby. I carried this in my purse and did maybe one length at a time. Then one day I went to work on it and could not find the thread. So I put it up. Then when I was switching the computer I found it. So I finished this up. Only took about an hour. Now the glue is drying on the back and I will cover it with felt or foam to make it look better.
Have a great day!

My Plastic Canvas finishes

I finished 2 plastic canvas sets this week. A coaster set and a tissue box cover. The pattern is from AdorABLEcrafts

Also have been working on Joan's Challenge I put it on a piece of 14ct aida that I stole out of a garage sale kit that I don't know if I will ever get done. Well it didnot come out square. The count is correct so that means the materiel is not square. Looks alright just is rectangle. Now I have to get it finished Was thinking about making it into a small pillow. Got to find some material for back and get it done today.

We just had rain with hail. Large pea size. Don't know where that came from. Was not even supposed to rain today. Although it is solid cloud cover.

Got to go as the ferrets want out to play for awhile.

My first biscournu

Finally heard that my partner in Canada received the package that I sent her. So now I can post a picture.

It was from the June 2008 Issue of The Gift of Stitching Magazine. Link is on my sidebar. The only thing I changed was I did not add the ribbon and beads shown in the mag. And I personalized the back.

Got to go as I have much to do. Have a great day!

Computer update

My computer crashed. Don't know exactly what went wrong. It had been doing the spontanious reboot for sometime. Friday morning hubby was playing his game and it rebooted. Windows didn't load correct so he just shut it down and left it. When I tried to turn it back on it would not do anything. One light came on and that was on my cd writer. Everything else nothing. Anyway I have GREAT kids. Son said I could use his desktop as no one was using it (One year newer) . They are both using laptops. So daughter picked it up from him. Brought it over with her friend who is her computor guru. He checked mine out. Wouldn't do a thing. Salvaged my hard drive and put it into this tower slaved to the one already here. Technically I lost nothing except for favorites and my address book on Outlook express. Told the kids if this one works for about another year then I can buy a new one. Got to go. Back to reloading software. Have a great day.
