Super Bowl Sunday

Well the Super Bowl is over and the right team won.  I think that it is great that New Orleans won.  they played a good game.

It doesn't seem like we are already into the 2nd month of the year.  We have had more snow this year than we have had in the last 20.  Although we were lucky last weekend that the storm that hit through the south Oklahoma, Arkansas, Georgia and so on missed us completely.    We had snow Friday but it was a wet snow and the roads did not get bad.  Today it has rained lightly all day.  Supposed to turn into snow so we will just wait and see what is out there when we wake up.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas  Hope you all had a great Christmas.  Pictures are of the tree we put up this year.  Did not use all of the tree as I left out the center section to make it fit where I had to put it.  I used all the new ornaments I received from Swap-bot exchanges plus some of my favorites from years past.  Plus I put a few others that I like around.  The little tree has miniature ornaments that stay on all year.  I just put it in a box for storage and pull it out when ready.  I like this glass manger set this is about the 3rd year I have used it since I found it at a yard sale.

We had a very quiet Christmas day as we had the kids over yesterday for Christmas Eve.  We started that many years ago doing ours on Christmas Eve and they could do in-laws on Christmas Day.  Although this year Daughter has no where to go so she went over to her brothers today.

We have a white Christmas this year as it started with sleet and ice yesterday then turned into blowing snow.  It is like 2 inches and you can see grass through it in places and other places drifts from 3 to 6 feet or more.  Very hard for them to get accurate measurements.   Hubby and I are going nowhere as son took our vehicle home last night.  His little car is not good on ice and we have a 4wheel drive Blazer so he took ours and left his sit in our drive way.  We trust his driving anyway as he drives a semi for a living and before that drove a wrecker for over 10 years.   

This is the view I had out my window this afternoon.  The little white car slid off the road and ended up sideways in the ditch.  The truck came around and pulled the car backwards out of the ditch to where it could drive the rest of the way through the empty lot and get back to the road thru the trailer park.  Most of the cars we saw today were larger or trucks and all going very slow.  I sent this last picture to my Brother in California and he wrote back that they were in t-shirts and shorts today and that he did not miss this kind of weather at all.

My son almost took a job with this company a couple of years ago.  How lucky for him that he did not.  This is a sad situation.  Many are stranded far from home and no way to get there.  Send this to all your friends.  Maybe someone will be able to help even one of these stranded truckers.  I read one page of coments on this story and almost cried.

Catching up

Where has all the time gone? It seems like we have been busy all summer. I have been doing a bunch of swaps on Swap-bot. Mostly postcards. Also notecards, another biscornu which I am just now finishing. Some magnets, souvenir stuff, bookmarks, crochet dishcloths and christmas ornaments. I don't have pictures of everything yet but I am gradually posting them on my webshots site.

May was busy. Hubby was in hospital for 4 days with breathing problems. He has severe COPD and it is gradually getting worse. Then just after that on the 14th I had carpel tunnel surgery on my left hand. Almost healed now. At least I can do my stitching now. I have several things to stitch for swap-bot and a swap on one of my Yahoo groups. I am going to wait a couple of months then will have the right hand done. The surgeon said that I can get that one done anytime I am ready. So I am going to do it before the end of the year because of insurance co-pays.

Don't know what else to post for now. Got to get back to stitching the biscornu I am making. It was due in May but got pushed back because of my surgery.

This and That

It has been quite awhile since I last posted. And much has gone on here. My neck surgery on Feb 3 went great. Right wrist has for the most part quit hurting when I use the mouse. Left arm is much better. Still have the carpel tunnel problem in the hands but the surgeon said we can fix those anytime. Not near as bad. They can wait till we get these bills paid.

Have been doing many exchanges through Swap-bot and some Yahoo groups. Will post pictures when I get them all sorted out. Many of the swaps have been post card swaps. I need to do some shopping around town to find some different cards.

In March I was the recipient of a RAK. The box said it was from the Yarn Fairy. Inside was 2 balls of cotton yarn and a note That said the Yarn Fairy heard my wish for some cotton yarn. Whoever sent it I want to say thank you. It will get put to good use.

I also won another PIF. This one for a stitched item. So in the next post I will be posting another one here for this one. Just need to get the details worked out.
