Merry Christmas

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. We did. Had the kids over for Christmas dinner and presents. Daughter brought 2 extras. A teenage boy who has a bad home life and had nowhere to go for the holiday. And a friend who she has been helping with some medical issues. He also had nowhere to go for today. So at the last moment she brought him along. After everyone left hubby wanted to watch "Christmas Vacation" so we watched it. Then he was watching "Home Alone" on cable when I came in here to download pictures and read mail. Now I got to go. Have to give the ferrets their Christmas treats and let them play awhile.

I will close with this little quiz that I found on another blog and I though was cute.

Your Elf Name Is...

Grumpy Fruit Cake

Merry Christmas everyone.

Just another little quiz that I found on a blog. Enjoy!

While others respect your competence, you can be a bit of a dictator.

Hard working and serious, you never let yourself down.

You are exact and accurate - and you expect others to be the same way.

Your strength: You always get the job done

Your weakness: You're a perfectionist to a fault

Your power color: Gray

Your power symbol: Checkmark

Your power month: April

Happy Dance

This is what I finished today. It is a little kit I picked up at Hobby Lobby. NeedleMagic - Stitch 'N Hang Kit #3709 House. Will hang it on my Christmas Tree. This will be the first X-stitch ornament I have made. All the rest that I made were Plastic Canvas. I think the next project will be a litte Christmas Ornament Kit I got at a garage sale when we went to Missouri in October. It is a Mouse and a candy cane. It is a stamped embroidery project. Shouldn't take me too long to do. Posted by Picasa

Happy Dance

Finished the Goose and Butterfly magnet. This is for Daughter-in-law. I put a magnet on the back so she can put it on fridge if she wants.

Also we got our Vegas trip over. Had lots of fun. Won a little Don on roulette and me on slots. My largest jackpot was 4 aces on a quarter video poker. Paid $200 most I have ever won at one time. The rest was about $50 a day on a couple of nickel machines. Also saw 3 great shows. Le Cage for the second time. Mama Mia very good musical featuring the music of Abba. And an afternoon show Ronn Lucas with his puppets. You can check him out at http://www.ronnlucas.org/ Will post some pictures from the trip next time.

Resend picture

Well I guess that I can only send one photo at a time. Anyway here is the picture of my Step-Dad Glenn.  Posted by Picasa

Step-Dad

Friday my daughter and I went to see my Step-Dad. Since my Mom died last year she has been overseeing his finances and helping with his Dr visits and anything else that is needed. Here are a couple of pictures. The first one is Glenn He is living in an assisted living facility which is one step below a nursing home.

This one is my daughter Teri with his dog Teddy. He is allowed to have the dog as long as he can physically take care of him. Glenn has an electric wheelchair that he uses to take Teddy for walks outside.

These pictures were taken with my camera phone as I did not take my digital camera with me. Maybe next time I will remember to take the other camera and get better pictures.

Finally completed. I have been working on this most of the summer. This was a stamped pillowcase set. I don't know what threads or colors I used. Just picked ones out of my box that fit the colors that were stamped.

Tomorrow we are going to take son to Kansas City. He called earlier and asked us to take him to get his truck. He drives cross country for Fed-Ex ground.

Got to go. Have a great day everyone. Posted by Picasa

A new quiz

I hope this works. I found it on another blog that I read.

Yasu
Your Japanese name should be

'Yasu'

which means "calm".

You're
somewhat quiet and a bit of a wall flower,
maybe even shy. People usually don't really
notice you or don't pay much attention to you
and you just wish they did. You're a calm
person and don't need a busy social life, but
you'd like to have just a few more friends.
You're probably quite intelligent.

Which Japanese name fits you best? [females, 9 results + absolutely stunning ANIME pictures!]

Just rambling!

Been awhile since I was here. Am now retired and loving it.

We froze about 20 dozen ears of corn for the winter, it gets shared with our kids families. Refilled all our quart jars with tomatoes or tomato juice.

Did some funeral pre-planning as our retirement has a death benefit that is best if we list a funeral home as the beneficiary that way our families don't have to pay taxes on it. And while we were doing that we ordered our marker and it will be placed in the cemetary once they get it made. A really nice shiney black stone with both names and the year or our births then the year of death is all that will have to be added later. We inherited the cemetary plots from DH's parents so we don't have to worry about that part.

Spent a few days in Missouri visiting some friends. Had a really nice visit and brought home a bunch of things as we hit the citywide garage sales there. The guys went together and us gals went our own way. I got several cross stitch kits just small ones but all kind of cute. I got 3 sets of embroidered pillow cases that the guy we bought them from said they were his Moms. I am going to use 2 sets for Christmas presents. And keep the 3rd for ourselves. I also got a plain white set that I am going to put something on myself.

Went to a funeral yesterday. It was my Step-Mom. She was married to my Dad for 11 years, my ages 3 to 14. And we had kept in contact all these years. She still told everyone I was her step-daughter and her son tells everyone I am the only sister he ever had. I love them all. And I will miss her very much.

Next month we are going to Las Vegas for a week. We have not been for about 4 years so we are looking forward to it. Love to see the changes everytime we go out there.

Well got to go for now as it is getting late.

July

Don't know what to put. This has been a very emotional couple of days. A little background my husband has a drinking problem and we have been trying to get him to do something about it for several years. Friday morning he called me at work and said he wanted to do something about it now. After several hours and a thourough check of his heart, lungs etc. at the hospital, he also has congestive heart failure, emphasymia and COPD, they cleared him medically and he was admitted to a Social detox facility. Hopefully they will be able to do the entire inpatient portion of the treatment. When this is over he will not be home alone all day like he has been as I only have less than 2 weeks to work then I will be retired also. We can spend more time together and do things together. I love him very much and I am very glad he is doing this. Our kids are very supportive and will help us thru this time as much as they can.

Crochet stitch along

A while back I saw blocks on someones blog for a crochet stitch along using a Leisure Arts pattern "63 Easy-to-crochet Pattern Stitches" the number was 5555. Well I found the pattern and the follow up pattern in my Annies Attic catalog and now I can't find anything about the stitch-along. Their was either a website or a yahoo group but I can't remember what. Maybe someone can help me.
Besides ordering those 2 patterns I also ordered a plastic canvas booklet called "Red Hat Attitude" Cute patterns I will have to make several.
Better get back to work. Have a great day!

Stitching Blogger's Question of the Day

I tried emailing this and it has not showed up yet so here is what I sent.

Today's "Stitching Blogger's Question" is:Do you "stitch with the seasons?" (This could be reflected by thecolors that you stitch with, the themes that you choose, or even thatduring your favorite season you stitch more (or less) than in others.)

Happy Stitching!Renée

Not on purpose but it just seems to end up that way. Especially with the plastic canvas stuff that I do it seems to be more so especially with magnets, tissue covers and coasters. Of course they work up very fast so you can get by with doing something at the last minute.

Well I have to get back to work so everyone have a great day!!!!

The March 30 Stitching Blogger Question of the Week.

*****

Today's "Stitching Blogger's Question," is:

How has your stitching evolved since you first started stitching?

I have done stitching of some kind most of my life.  My grandmother taught me to embroidery when I was in grade school.  All stamped items but I did learn quite a few stitches then and the one main thing that always stuck with me was that she told me to always keep the back as neat as possible.  Over the years I did many different things crochet, fabric paint, tried knitting but just couldn't get into it preferred crochet.  Then about 18 years ago I got involved with plastic canvas stitching and have done that ever since.  Anyway my first cross stitch patterns were done on plastic canvas .  Now I am doing some on aida  and I have bought some patterns that I want to do.   When I finish the little frog that I am doing for my daughter I want to start some of the Dragon Dreams freebys.  Love the colorful dragons.

Have a great day!

"Stitching Blogger's Question," for March 23, 2005

What are your thoughts on craft and/or needlework shows? Have you beento one or are you planning on going to one this year?

Here the craft shows are not very big or they are in conjunction with a special event like "Cider Days" . I have never been to a needlework show. The last craft show I went to was before Christmas. Basically just finished items.
