Continuation of Swaps

My first Swap-bot swap was a private one set up by Doreen for members of Joan's Yahoo group. It was for a biscornu using a pattern that Joan had made for a group challenge.

I received from Doreen in Canada. This biscornu and a selection of buttons.

Here is the one I sent to Pirjo in Finland.

I have enjoyed doing this swap and will be joining more swaps of this type after the new year.

The other swap I joined was a postcard swap and I received 4 really nice postcards, from Colorado, North Carolina, Michigan and Australia. And I sent to North Carolina (different person that I received from), Alabama, Kentucky and The Netherlands. I enjoyed this and have already joined another postcard swap. I will scan these later and post the pictures.

Got to go as have to let the ferrets out to play for a while.
Have a great day.

Swaps

Been busy but I guess I had better post some pictures of some swaps and things that I have seent and received in the last month or so. I joined a site called Swap-Bot because one of the yahoo groups I am in is going to do her swaps thru this site. I have completed 2 swaps and joined 2 more. Also I have joined in on the group forum (Sapphirestitching - Swap-bot group) a couple of Winner take all postings. And I won the drawing for the WTA- Christmas Floss. So here are some pictures of what I received.

From Angel a skein of NeedleNecessities overdyed #151. My first overdyed floss. And you can see the pretty decoration of the note card she had with the floss.
Then next from Doreen in Canada 3 Christmas colors of DMC and an assortment of Christmas colored buttons.
Then from Sadie in Scotland these pretty DMC threads Antique Effects (silver), Precious metal Effects (gold) and another shade of green.
Next from Joan a skein of Six Strand Sweets Hand-dyed color spice drop. a skein of Weeks Dye Works called Santa Claus from the Holiday Collection, and 3 skeins of DMC varigated colors.
Last from Roz a skein of Anchor (another shade of green), skein of Kreinik Japan thread #7 (gold), roll of Kreinik Very Fine #4 braid - green, and a roll of Kreinik blending filament - red. And a really cute Christmas note card.
Better post this as it is getting rather long. Next post will be about the swaps that I have done in Swap-Bot

I was tagged.

Boy am I behind. I got tagged almost a month ago to tell you 6 things about me and then tag 6 more to do the same. Anyway I have been thinking about what to post.

First the rules.

1. Link to the person who tagged you.2. Post the rules on your blog.3. Write six random things about yourself.4. Tag six people at the end of your post.5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.6. Let the tagger know your entry is up

Joan was so nice to tag me. (You have to scroll down as there are some newer posts above the one where she tagged me.)

Now 6 Random the things about me:

1. I have been retired for 3 years now and seem to be as busy as when I was working. Do have more time for stitching and playing on the computer.

2. I have done many crafts over the years. Crochet, embroidery, fabric painting, sewing, plastic canvas, and cross stitch. The only thing I have had trouble trying to learn is knitting. Although I am trying.

3. Been married for 42 years. Hope to make 50 but don't know if Hubbies health will hold up that much longer.

4. Have 2 kids. Daughter is 40, divorced, with 3 sons - 18 - 19 - 21. She works for a clipping company here so she gets to read newspapers for a living. Son is 37, married with a 16 year old step daughter, and a 15 year old daughter who is in Texas with her mom. He drives for a large trucking company out of Des Moines although he lives here in Topeka.

5. I am very shy until I get to know someone. That is why in the groups I mostly lurk. I am trying to get over this and maybe someday I will. You never know.

6. Love to read. I can remember getting in trouble in grade school because I would get engrossed in a book and not want to do anything else. If I really like a book and will read it ove and over.

As for tagging anyone I have been thinking about that and most of the blogs that I read have already been tagged. So I am going to take an idea from some of them and just say that if you have not been tagged to consider yourself tagged. If you do post this let me know and I will come check it out.

Well thats all for now. Might be back later as I have some pictures to post from exchanges and some things I been working on.

Ornament finish

This was done mostly in Dr's offices and the hospital waiting on hubby. I carried this in my purse and did maybe one length at a time. Then one day I went to work on it and could not find the thread. So I put it up. Then when I was switching the computer I found it. So I finished this up. Only took about an hour. Now the glue is drying on the back and I will cover it with felt or foam to make it look better.
Have a great day!

My Plastic Canvas finishes

I finished 2 plastic canvas sets this week. A coaster set and a tissue box cover. The pattern is from AdorABLEcrafts

Also have been working on Joan's Challenge I put it on a piece of 14ct aida that I stole out of a garage sale kit that I don't know if I will ever get done. Well it didnot come out square. The count is correct so that means the materiel is not square. Looks alright just is rectangle. Now I have to get it finished Was thinking about making it into a small pillow. Got to find some material for back and get it done today.

We just had rain with hail. Large pea size. Don't know where that came from. Was not even supposed to rain today. Although it is solid cloud cover.

Got to go as the ferrets want out to play for awhile.

My first biscournu

Finally heard that my partner in Canada received the package that I sent her. So now I can post a picture.

It was from the June 2008 Issue of The Gift of Stitching Magazine. Link is on my sidebar. The only thing I changed was I did not add the ribbon and beads shown in the mag. And I personalized the back.

Got to go as I have much to do. Have a great day!

Computer update

My computer crashed. Don't know exactly what went wrong. It had been doing the spontanious reboot for sometime. Friday morning hubby was playing his game and it rebooted. Windows didn't load correct so he just shut it down and left it. When I tried to turn it back on it would not do anything. One light came on and that was on my cd writer. Everything else nothing. Anyway I have GREAT kids. Son said I could use his desktop as no one was using it (One year newer) . They are both using laptops. So daughter picked it up from him. Brought it over with her friend who is her computor guru. He checked mine out. Wouldn't do a thing. Salvaged my hard drive and put it into this tower slaved to the one already here. Technically I lost nothing except for favorites and my address book on Outlook express. Told the kids if this one works for about another year then I can buy a new one. Got to go. Back to reloading software. Have a great day.

Exchanges completed

Of the 4 exchanges that I mailed last Friday, 3 have arrived safely to their new homes. One is still on its way but it is going to Canada so will probably take a little longer. This one was a biscornu. The first one I ever made. I will post pictures when I hear that it has been received.

The first one was matching coaster and magnet to Becky in the PlasticCanvasClub on Yahoogroups. The pattern was free from Mountain Harmony Creations I also made a set for myself.

This next one was to Chris for the same group. For a stitchers choice magnet. I made one of my Round Tuits. This one was my pattern. Instructions are here

This one was Christmas Ornament for Carla in the yahoogroup meadowspatternpalacefreeforall. I will also be sending a matching pair to Meadow for a charity that she is doing. The patterns was from a booklet called "Deck the Halls" (Copyright 1996 House of White Birches). They were part of a set called Cheery Winter Ornaments by Adele Magavero. I did the Snowlady and Snowman.

Well that is all for now. Good night all.

Edited my blog

I added a playlist to my blog. As you can tell from the songs I love country music. I will be making changes as I go along and learn how to do more things. Actually this is fun.

The Harry Potter Husband Test

I found this on Meagans blog and thought that I would try it. Results fit as close as I can tell. Anyway it was interesting to do.

Your result for The Harry Potter Husband Test...

Mrs. Longbottom

Your perfect HP man is Neville Longbottom.

You like the nice guy. You don't need the best looking guy, or the most talented, or the most popular, or the most powerful. You want a guy who'll be there when you need him, who knows how to stick through the hard times, who isn't afraid to do what needs to be done, and who stands up to even his friends when necessary. You can't go wrong with a guy like this.

This is just a short note to update what has been going on. I have been working on coasters and magnets for exchanges. Got several mailed today. Will post pictures when I hear that they have received. I have 2 exchanges left to finish for this month. One will be done tomorrow then the other I will work on while waiting for hubby on Monday.

He has another compression fracture in his back so will be having that fixed so I will be working on my cross stitch or crochet while waiting on him. Good thing I do have things to work on otherwise the time would really go slow.

Doesn't look like my ebay items will sell this time. Will probably relist them and try again.

Got to go for now. Everyone have a great day.

My new venture

Well I finally did it. I listed 2 of my duplicate cross stitch patterns on e-bay . I hope this pans out for me as I would like to start listing some other patterns and thing that I am wanting to get rid of.

This has been a long summer. We have not been going much cause of gas prices and the heat has really been bothering hubby. He has COPD among other things and so we mostly stay in where we have air-conditioning. I have been working on exchange items. I have most of them done for this month. Only a couple more to do and one magnet that I need to get some ribbon for the trim. Will be getting it next week probably at Michaels as it is in the same area as the Petco that we go to for our ferret and cat food.

Better go for now will update more later.

What I have finished this month

I have been doing quite a bit of crafting this month. A little bit for Online Angels 3 granny squares in the Plain Jane Pattern (it came from Melissa's Crochet site). I also made some cross bookmarks. Next for an exchange I made a couple of Christmas ornaments then made all 3 in the set for myself. They are part of the Woodland Wonders patterns for the Leisure Arts Leaflet #1735 150 Extra-Easy Ornaments in Plastic Canvas Book nine. I finished my cross stitch bookmark the June Celtic Knot Bookmark by Ink Circles. And I did an elephant wallhanging the Lotsa Heart Elephant from Wendy at the Craftastic_Free_PcPatterns Yahoo group. This was for my elephant collection. Now I have to get busy on some more things as I am signed up for another Christmas ornament exchange although I may have that one already stitched. Will know when partners are listed. I also am signed up for a biscornu exchange in the Brooks Books Interactive Group . This will be my first biscornu so I hope it turns out good for my partner.
I guess this is all for now. Have a great day!

Update on Patriotic Exchange

Well my partner finally received the things I sent. So here are the pictures. The star coasters came from crochetmemories . The Round Tuit I just made myself as I didn't have a pattern. Used a 3inch craft circle and just used the colors I wanted for the exchange. And for the poem I did a search on Goodsearch for "A round tuit Poem" and just used one of the poems I found.

~ ROUND TUIT ~
How many times have you said:
I’ll do it as soon as I get around to it!
Well, now’s your chance, now you can do it.
Now, at last, you’ve got “A ROUND TUIT!”

Patriotic exchange

Today I received my Patriotic exchange from Eri. She spoiled me. So much and many different things. Then while I was taking the pictures SuzyQ just had to investigate the box. I wouldn't let her on the table with all the pretties so she got in the box and sat and watched them while I took pictures.

Baby bib for Online Angels

Yesterday I was crocheting. I made this bib for Online Angels a charity that I have made things for ever since they started. Here is the pattern. It is the Basic Bib by Priscilla Hewitt Copyright© 2001. I used Peaches & Creme 100% cotton yarn. Color 205 Gumdrop. I will probably make some more as it was a quick easy stitch and I do have more of the cotton yarn in different colors.

WIPs

This is what I am working on today. It is a bookmark on 14ct vinyl weave with red and blue mystery threads. The vinyl weave is some that I got at a garage sale last summer. Pattern is a freebie by Ink Circles the "June Celtic Knot Bookmark" from 2006. I omitted the 41 stitch segment in the center to make it shorter. Have been working on this when I wanted a change from my exchange items. It is small enough that it is in the bag that I grab for travel. One of the Yahoo lists that I read was talking about the back of their projects so the second picture is the back of this one. As for how I make the stitches it depends on the patterns This one combines both styles to make the pattern. I do like how it is coming along.

Scissor Fob exchange

I received my fob from Cameo a couple of days ago and I finally got around to taking pictures of it. She also sent me a pack of Dragon note cards. So without further ado here are the pictures.

My first scissor fob

I got my first scissor fob made. It is for an exchange on the "bbinteractive" Yahoo group. I hope she likes it as I never made one before. It is a free pattern from The Floss Box . It was on the minibiscornu 2 page. I didn’t make it into a biscornu as I will do my first one of those as a full size not a mini. Here is a scan of it. ScissorFob-6-20-2008 ScissorFob-6-20-2008 001

This and That

Not much going on here. Today is our anniversary. 42 years. Doesn't seem like that long. Not doing anything today to celebrate but we are going out this weekend to celebrate. Going to a dance that is having a 50's theme. Will be fun.

Lets see craft wise have been doing some 7" granny squares for an exchange. April was pastel colors. May is spring flower colors. I have 3 of the May ones done. Also have a few small xstitch kits that I work on when I want a change. And last Hubby wants me to knit him a sweater. We will see as I have never learned. Bought a learn to knit kit that has needles and several other accesssories and a book and we will see what happens. Also been Goodsearching for learner sites with videos. Have figured out one method of casting on but when I try 2 needles I just get lost. Guess I will just have to keep trying.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!!

We won!. Normally we don’t watch basketball but this year for some reason we got hooked. The first we watched was earlier in the series. KSU and KU were both still in the playoffs. We watched KSU get beat. Then we got to watching KU and they went all the way. It is nice that Kansas get recognized for something.

My Fairy Name

This is really cute. I found this on Stacey’s blog. I really like the description.

Your fairy is called Field Goblinwand

She is a bringer of riches and wealth.

She lives in fields where wild flowers and poppies grow.

She is only seen when the seer holds a four-leafed clover.

She likes to wear red petals in her skirt. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.
